Coppermine dev charity session

+ 19 April 2009

Coppermine dev team member Phill Luckhurst has started a charity session that we want to support as well:

Last year a mate of mine discovered his cancer had returned. First time round he was told that it would be a real battle because of his late diagnosis. This was due to the fact he was a bit too embarrased to go to the doctors so just left it. He is now going through his second series of chemo in 4 years.

One thing he wanted to do was to raise awareness about the need to get an early diagnosis so with the help of a growing group of us we have set up a charity to do this at www.windsurfing4cancerresearch.com

On the 3rd of May a huge percentage of the UK's windsurfers including a couple of world champions will be sailing from sunrise to sunset, at total of 15hrs on the water, to raise money for the charity and the press will be there to document the event.

I will be sailing for as many hours as I can manage and have been training hard for the last few months.

So if any of you fancy sponsoring me a few pennies, cents, bolivars or whatever then visit my justgiving page.

Plugin-Downloads for cpg1.4.x

+ 17 March 2009

Coppermine comes with a plugin API that enables plugin authors to modify coppermine features without hacking the core code, making upgrading easier, as modifications don't have to be re-applied every time you upgrade your coppermine version. It's recommended to use plugins instead of code modifications that require hacking the core code. As a courtesy to end users we have bundled all plugins that we're aware of and added them to the downloads page, into a special plugins download section. It contains all plugins from the cpg1.4 plugin contributions as of today (2009-03-16) except for the plugins that are being hosted and developed on cpg-contrib.org.

Spammers wanted

+ 11 November 2008

The staff of the Coppermine support board would like to say a big "thank you" to all the spammers out there. You manage to register and drop your crap (online pharmacy, porn links, affiliate programs) by the dozen each and every day. Yet your postings have an average time to live of less than 10 minutes before they get caught by moderators and deleted and your accounts get suspended. You really need a lot of luck to have the Google spider visit within that short 10 minutes period. Your postings have an average hit counter of 1.1 - that's usually one hit by the moderator who deletes you and only a very small chance of a user to click your links. Why don't you stop wasting precious efforts? Go play somewhere else. Or get a decent job. Anyway, you probably won't, so let's continue to play. I wonder who will get tired first. There are thousands of you, but only a few of us, yet we win each day. Yeah, I know - you probably won't read this news record and continue dumping your lame spam. I wonder what you tell your wives when you get home in the evening, after having molested millions of people - do you continue lying? Or do you tell your sweetie "honey,I had a hard time posting all that crap"? You probably don't have wives... Nor do you have friends, at least none who know what you're doing for a living. Have a nice life! I would hate myself if I were you...

A real "thank you" goes to all the volunteer moderators who keep this board free of spam.

Coppermine Live-Demo

+ 31 July 2006

It is just a package that provides a local webserver with a pre-configured Coppermine install rolled into one package to preview the "real" Coppermine Photo Gallery on your Windows box. The webserver is being started by only executing one single file, so you don't have to go through the troubles of setting up a webserver environment on your local PC just for evaluation purposes. The sole purpose of the live-demo is to give you an impression how the admin backend of Coppermine looks and feels. It is only meant to be used for evaluation purposes. You mustn't run it as a production system, because it has deliberately been configured in an unsecure manner to provide a newbie-proof experience in the first place.
